I wasn't really feeling the superhero aspect of this theme (Maybe I was worn out from my recent foray into superhero filmmaking), so I decided to go with the woodsman from Little Red Riding Hood. Who wouldn't want a handsome brawny woodsman to save them from the belly of a wolf?
I've been experimenting a lot with combining inked drawings with photographs and real textures, but I don't quite feel comfortable with it yet. If anyone has any suggestions or critiques, please let me know.

who wouldn't appreciate a hunky rescuer?! added bonus, i say:)
love your version of rapunzel, with it's modern touch and the wonderful layouts, like the text climbing the stairs and the prince's head over heels tumble...due to be a success!

Dark and lovely. This has an interesting quality to it that is both dramatic and fairy tale like. Very nice. Paige

I like the overall feel of the piece and the real textures work - however i think the colour of the grass is the reason you feel its not comfortable = for the darkness of the forest it should not be that colour of green. Try playing with curves or adjust colours for the grass to a greyer or bluer colour and that will pull it all together.

Thanks so much for the compliments and suggestions. I changed the grass color and added some shadows, and you were right that it made it fit better. I'm glad that you all find the woodsman to be handsome. I have trouble drawing men—they usually wind up looking like women with bad haircuts.

We always forget about the woodsman - how great that you picked him to shine the hero spotlight on. Well done - I like the movement and the mystery of it. Nice job!
