A Beastly Piece of Work

Cutting it a little close on my submission for the Beasts! book.

Also, I found out last night that the host of Chic-A-Go-Go is a fan of mine and owns a Myra & the Sasquatch print.

Shop Update This Evening

I have a bunch of new stuff that I made these past few days that I can't wait to get into my shop. There are the little girls above (with more to come, I hope) as well as the cards below. I'll add all this to my shop this evening. What time, you ask? Well, I get off work at 7 p.m., then I have to run a couple of errands, so sometime after that. Ah, the glamourous life of an artist...

See what I mean about rainbow order? Any ideas how I can arrange all my brown hairs into rainbow order? Tricky, tricky.

Rainbow Order Is Just Better

I've been hard at work arranging things in my studio. While I was at it, I thought I'd make my supplies a little easier on the eyes. I wonder how I can arrange all my white drawing papers by color...

Cephalopods-to-Be

Things are turning out all right for me. The school decided to review my application after all. Unfortunately, there is some tragic news about a fellow Cranky Yellow artist that has thrown me really out of sorts. Please keep her family in your thoughts. I can't imagine how difficult this is for them.

I decided to take my mind off of things by crocheting eight octopus heads, but I wasn't in the mood to make legs.

Mirth or Zombies?

Also known as: Should I be mad or see it as a blessing in disguise?

One of my professors forgot to send my letter of recommendation to me, so my application to PNCA arrived one day late, and the school won't consider me for their graduate program. I've explained the situation to them, and they won't budge.

Sorry?

Threadless says that this isn't good enough to let people vote on it. I'm not sure why. Any thoughts? I think I may be finished with Threadless. The unnecessary rudeness and condescension is really getting to me.

Oh, Yeah:

Don't forget to check out my latest Threadless submission so that you can be amused by the rude comments.

Ghost no. 5

My heavens, my room as a kid was certainly full of ghosts. Good thing I wasn't as interested in photography then as I am now, or all the ghosts I've been catching on film would have terrified me. At least this one sometimes looks like a panda to me.

A bit of press lately: Get Underground, a wonderful online magazine, was kind enough to feature me in their latest issues. Be sure to check out all the other featured artists, as they have a number of really interesting folks on there. I was also alerted by members of the Craft Mafia that Whip Up actually featured me as well, which led to a lot of bouncing around the room ecstatically.

A bit of useless information: We've been watching Deadwood lately, which I think is nothing short of captivating, and now I insist that Kieran call me Calamity Cate. Anyone else who'd like to join would be assured of safety from any of my gunslinging antics.

A bit of potentially useful information I almost forgot: The reason I've been so scarce here is not due to inactivity. Instead, I've been embroidering up a storm, and I'm just waiting for a project that's nearing completion to dry (had to wash out the blue, you know) before I post it. I have a feeling there will be a bunch of slow projects like that one coming up, so I'll have to try to find something else to fill my blog.

Ghost no. 2

I just happened to find another little ghost in my parents' house. She really wants you to go to Denise Simon's solo show at Cranky Yellow. If you've ever wanted to meet an adorable ghost and a great artist all in one evening, March 1 is your chance. She hopes so much to see you there.

I Hope the Blue Washes Out...

Every time I'm not in the middle of some crazy obsessive-compulsive time-intensive project, I wish I was. Every time I am, I can't wait to finish. I'm nuts, it's true, but what are you gonna do?

This is going to be a stuffie for a stuffie show assuming I get into one. Right now I have two applications out in the ether, and I'm anxiously awaiting their return. I'm also now anxiously awaiting news from grad school. Yeah, my fingers are getting cramped from all that crossing.
